History: [The wiki link is juggling between three continuities, so I'm just going to give you a rundown as applies to the miniseries...]
Eddie recently returned to his hometown of Derry, Maine to fulfill a promise made between him and his six friends. Twenty-seven years ago, when they were all around the ages of twelve and thirteen, an eldritch horror stirred beneath their town and starting hunting children. Frightening them first because they "taste so much better when [they]'re afraid", the creature known only as It terrorized the children of the town and influenced the adults to never notice what was so very wrong with Derry. The seven friends who made up 'the Losers Club' banded together to fight It... and through the power of their combined belief, managed to hurt It severely. This stopped that particular reign of terror earlier than It's other rampages.
As they grew up, most of 'the Losers Club' ended up moving away from Derry, save Mike Hanlon. Each person who moved away eventually forgot what happened that fateful year of 1958 and went on to become successful in each of their chosen fields. When Mike calls upon them, informing them that It has returned, their memories are restored and nearly all of them return to Derry despite their misgivings. In Eddie's case, he breaks away from his overbearing mother and has one of his employees drive him to the airport despite her protests.
(The book shows Eddie as married to a woman named Myra who is very similar to his mother. The miniseries skips this and shows him still living with his mother. Player splits the difference and says that Eddie WAS married but had recently gotten divorced. Someone going back to their parent's home in the wake of a life change like that is not unheard of. I know he claims to still be a virgin in the miniseries, but... if you know book canon, you know...)
Eddie had recently stepped up to save Bill, Ben, and Richie from becoming lost in It's "deadlights". Looking into the deadlights for too long can force a mental break in a human being, or even outright kill them. Eddie affirmed childlike beliefs in an attempt to recall back the power they'd held against It before, and repeated a particular 'attack' against It -- to unfortunately less effect. The montrous form of It grabbed him and hoisted him into the air... but despite what happened to Eddie himself, he did save his friends. Their fury and pain at his death fueled them on to attack and kill It... hopefully, for good this time.
Personality: Eddie can be a little irritable and sarcastic, but he's got a good heart. He's a bit of a worrier, but mostly just because he cares so much about other people. He may complain, he may counsel caution, but... when the time comes to cowboy up, Eddie's at the front of the line. He'll never describe himself as brave. He sees it as doing what needs to be done. (If I had to give him a role within the group, it would actually be the Lancer to Bill's Leader, given the way he steps up during each major battle with It/Pennywise.)
Initial Game Plan: After lining up a job, Eddie will likely explore the town (politely!) to get his bearings. As a (former) business owner, he understands the importance of social capital. Since he's just come from fighting a horrible sewer beast, he'll take Yorick's warning about staying away from manholes quite seriously.
RP Interests: Friends, please! His canon heavily implied that all of his best friends will forget about him and each other, and that's just... not what this sweetheart deserves, okay? Thanks to the merry hell that fighting a dark creature played with his own memories, Eddie is still a little stuck in his anxious, fearful phase, so growing beyond that is another goal I have for him.
Preferred Job: In his home reality, Eddie runs a chauffeur service. Since cars are both very basic and rare on the island, that probably won't be viable. He'd like to try his hand at farming, and if that doesn't work out, he's willing to take a laborer position. Perhaps his experience in car maintenance can translate to general mechanics.
NSFW-friendly?: I play Eddie as figuring out that he's demisexual & biromantic. Any romance would be a slow burn, and I prefer to take NSFW off-comm to one's personal journal.
